Gender violence in the face of a false dichotomy

Puerto Rico has experienced several cases, some quite notorious, involving politicians accused of gender violence. Let’s not forget the case of the former mayor of Guaynabo, Héctor O’Neill, and more recently the cases of the mayor of Trujillo Alto, Pedro Rodríguez, who was accused by an employee of sexual harassment, and legislator Orlando Aponte Rosario. Just a few days ago, the latter announced his resignation, citing “attempts by third parties to use the legislative forum and the House Ethics Committee” to expose what he calls “a personal situation I am facing that affects the well-being of my family.”
