WOMEN'S FOUNDATION IN PUERTO RICO
We are the only gender equity fund in Puerto Rico
We support feminist activism to promote leadership among women and girls in all their diversity as well as the gender-fluid community.
ABOUT OUR WORK
Women are the first line of defense in the struggles for social justice, but they are too often also the ones who receive the least support
We believe that contributing to community initiatives led by women has a multiplier effect on society. We channel our resources and trainings to feminist organizations dedicated to promoting women’s development, economic security, reproductive autonomy, empowerment, and the eradication of gender violence

We aspire to live in peace and not just free of bombs and war. We want to live a life of dignity, where our rights are not abused. Meeting the needs of women in Vieques is vital for this island's development. Empowering women will result in a positive transformation for the community.

Colonialism is not the only cause of inequality in Puerto Rico, there is also a racist perspective. Living is more than merely breathing and surviving, and I think we need to have a purpose in what we do. When women join together, everyone benefits.

We know that helping people discover themselves is not the same as helping them survive. But providing them with a different way of looking at the world is very liberating. Self-discovery is a step forward in the shaping of a person's gender identity, but it's only the beginning; there is a challenging road ahead that is paved with inequality and invisibility.

Food sovereignty is a way of ensuring our future. Having the possibility of producing your own food is liberating. We are focusing on organizing ourselves to support fair economic development for women farmers and to promote the consumption of local products in Vieques.

Historically, I think doctors have been wary about inserting themselves in the discussion and becoming activists. Abortion is a health and human right. It should be available to every woman or pregnant person who needs it. We focus our efforts on deepening the conversation around abortion, and expanding these services.
